Figure 4 describes mean inlet fluid pressure resulting from a continuous
infusion of fluid, recorded at several discrete flow rates. This
reflects in vitro test results and not intracranial pressure following
implantation. The nominal pressure specifications, at any given
flow rate, may be found by following the horizontal lines to the
left side pressure scale.

| Figure 5 describes mean fluid flow
rate through the Diamond valve, measured at constant positive poximal
pressures. This graph simulates fluid flow while the patient is in
a recumbent position, including flow, which may result from pressures,
which may be experienced during REM sleep. |

| Figure 6 describes mean fluid flow
rates through the Diamond Valve, measured at constant negative distal
pressures, as measured with a positive head pressure of 80 mm H2O.
This graph simulates fluid flow rates, which may result due to gravitational
forces created between the proximal inlet and the distal outlet of
the shunt system, while the patient is either sitting or standing. |
